Data hk refers to any information gathered through observations, measurements or research and organized into records or tables for easy analysis and prediction by data scientists. It could include facts, figures, names or descriptions of things. Ultimately this data allows data scientists to make predictions based on trends or patterns seen within our world as well as environmental indicators like weather forecasts, temperature predictions or rainfall measurements.

The Hong Kong Personal Data Protection Ordinance (“PDPO”) requires that data users inform data subjects prior to collecting their personal information of its intended use and potential recipients – similar requirements are found in other laws covering personal data transfers such as mainland China’s Personal Information Protection Law or Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation.

To comply with the PDPO, data users must demonstrate their transfer of personal data abroad by applying one of six legal grounds outlined by it. This process, significantly less onerous than GDPR’s six step framework, includes an analysis to see whether foreign jurisdiction’s laws and practices can provide adequate levels of protection compared to what’s expected by law under PDPO.

An essential aspect of creating an effective data governance program lies in selecting individuals to support, sponsor and lead it. These individuals should ideally come from both business and IT disciplines and act as communication bridges between departments while helping identify how the program policies impact each aspect of your organization’s decision processes and interactions. They will also act as primary points of escalation between executive sponsors and steering committee members.
