The Australian Jewish Library annually awards The Sidney Taylor Book Award to an exceptional book that has made an outstanding contribution to Jewish studies. The winner receives both a cash award and certificate; their work will also be displayed at their conference one year after publication – in past competitions this has included works by scholars, poets, musicians and visual artists alike! In 2025 alone three authors submitted works – Deborah Bodin Cohen, Kerry Olitzky and Stacey Dressen McQueen of An Etrog from Across the Sea won; Estelle Nadel Sammy Savos and Bethany Strout with The Girl Who Sang: A Holocaust Memoiriam of Hope and Survival; A. R. Vishny’s Night Owls won this Sydney Taylor Book Award!

The winner of the Sydney Taylor Book Award receives a cash award of $2,000, as well as having their work published by American Journalists & Letterists (AJL). Furthermore, their book will be showcased at an AJL annual conference following publication and added to our library’s collection as well as receiving its own bibliography listing all winning works.

Nominations for the Leonardo da Vinci Medal, Melvin Kranzberg Dissertation Fellowship and Joan Cahalin Robinson Prize will open for submissions on 14 May. Moreover, nomination deadlines for Eugene S.
