This prize, valued at US$50,000, recognizes publications which have made an outstanding contribution to understanding Singaporean history. Nominations should include book-length publications that have significantly advanced research on this area of study. A Prize Panel selects a winner every three years for this prestigious award.

This year, The Earthshot Prize is unveiling an innovative format: From November 6-12 it will host global leaders, businesspeople, investors and Earthshot Prize finalists for an intensive weeklong convening to discuss opportunities available to them to accelerate solutions and take tangible actions that restore our planet.

There will be various events and activations activities planned for the public to experience, such as local activations that allow members of the public to connect with and learn more about Earthshot Prize winners and finalists of 2023.

At the event, there will be a green carpet with celebrity ambassadors and an audience of over 3,000 people including young people – “who are at the core of what we do”, according to Ms Jones. Prizes are provided by Temasek Trust, Temasek Holdings, GenZero decarbonisation investment platform and non-profit environmental organisation Conservation International.

Ms Jones added that the awards would provide a “moment of inspiration and celebration” for 2023 winners and finalists as well as for Singaporeans at large. She explained: “Our aim is to help turn ideas into actionable plans, celebrate achievements and motivate others to support them,” adding:

As part of their grand prize of two 3-day Stamford Grandstand tickets and round-trip Economy Class flights from one of Singapore Airlines’ USA gateway cities, the lucky winner will also qualify for standard Tour event-winning benefits, including 16.5 OWGR points (based on field strength) and key event berths. They’ll even get invited by event organizers to attend the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix!

This year’s Singapore Design Award competition will recognize both individual designers and design teams. These awards honor those who form the backbone of our design community and propel it forward. As our challenges become ever more complex, designers are natural problem-solvers. That is why the Singapore Design Award has expanded its recognition of those who go beyond product design alone to address larger issues and inspire a new generation of designers, according to its organizers.

Pollisum Engineering was honored for their “The Enertainer” battery that can power construction sites at half of the cost of traditional diesel generators while simultaneously reducing CO2 emissions and noise pollution. Ampd Energy won in innovation category for their “Energy Storage As-A-Service” solution which can cut electricity costs up to 40% for construction firms while simultaneously mitigating operational risks such as fuel and maintenance expenses.
