Saying the name Hong Kong may conjure images of shopping or dim sum, but swimming pools may not immediately come to mind. But this city boasts numerous stunning watery spots from rooftop infinity pools to natural mountainside ponds and public swimming pools; here are just a few of our favorites!
W Hong Kong boasts one of the world’s highest outdoor pools at 76th floor, surrounded by some of Hong Kong’s most breathtaking vistas. There’s also a jacuzzi pool for relaxation purposes, deckchairs for sunbathing and cocktails on tap – plus high-speed WiFi!
Terry Farrell designed a spaceship-like complex in Victoria Harbour that opened to the public this month, taking eight years and an estimated $671 million HK ($86 million U.S). Spectator stands can seat 1,200 spectators while training and teaching pools as well as a toddler pool filled with whimsical water installations like mushroom and tree-shaped fountains are also part of this spaceship-like complex.
Though visiting this luxury hotel may not be on everyone’s bucket list, its pool is certainly noteworthy. Situated high above the city, K11 Artus boasts an enthralling turquoise Balinese stone 25-meter pool adorned with underwater speakers and fiber optic lights (perfect for hosting pool parties!), cabanas, and of course, its very own cocktail bar serving drinks and snacks!
Central’s latest waterfront addition, this glass and metal structure is an eye-catching sight. With slanted walls and glass bottomed floor that allow swimmers to gaze below at the city skyline while its reflective surface reflects buildings, its main pool is flanked by training/teaching pools as well as toddler’s pools with fun water slides (two of them among Hong Kong’s fastest).
The pool is open three times each day for lap swimming sessions. It offers modern and spacious changing facilities with snack bar service and massage therapy available to swimmers; additionally there’s even an amazing deckchair lounge area perfect for post-swim relaxing and reading! To reach it: Diamond Hill MTR stations can be reached within 10 minutes by walking; buses also stop nearby Ngau Chi Wan Public Library which hosts bus shuttle services directly. Those driving themselves may park their vehicles nearby Plaza Hollywood near both Diamond Hill and Choi Hung stations or use one of two public car parks near Plaza Hollywood near Diamond Hill/Choi Hung as well as nearby Plaza Hollywood near these MTR stations – see directions here for parking available nearby (both routes offer different rates).
